I'm a Scientist, Programmer, Manager

and More

ABOUT ME

My love for science, my eye for detail, fascination with all things creative, and team-oriented personality serve me well in the science and communications field. I have experience conducting research, analyzing data and writing technical reports,  managing an office and staff, and utilizing a myriad of technology.

My main focus is to obtain professional alignment and manage assets by applying sound, strategic principles, while maximizing productivity using a common sense approach to accomplish stated goals and objectives.

Setting aside my love of science, I genuinely enjoy writing, editing, and design, and I aim to keep my skills relevant  in HTML, various design software, and the ever-evolving world of social media. I also enjoy people and learning how to communicate with people from a variety of different backgrounds. Strong relationships, excellent organization, effective communication, and the drive to succeed are all key components for the success of any organization. People matter.

I am open to a position that serves as an effective gatekeeper, and time and task manager for busy executives, and perhaps utilize my science background too. I would like the opportunity to think strategically and bring innovative creativity to the table. I also want to be challenged to grow professionally.

Now a bit more casual.

I have been a lifelong resident of Kansas. My husband and I, together with our 3 children, enjoy living on and operating our farm. I enjoy boating and camping with my family, fishing, watching my boys play sports, and traveling.

I have a diverse employment background, which has contributed to my knowledge base and skillset to date. I believe that dimensional diversity leads to a more dynamic and innovative workplace, and a higher success rate for both the individual and the organization.

Early on, I worked in the accounting industry. As such, I later utilized my accounting skills for a multi-faceted organization, which included but was not limited to, reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements, and budget management. In this role, I also managed the CEO schedule and correspondence, and office staff. This was a turning point for me that ingrained the necessity for exceptional organization and task management skills, necessary to maintain a rigorous responsibility. Though I enjoyed this field of work, I had an unwavering love of both technology and science, and goals that I’d not yet achieved. Two college degrees later, I found myself in new territory.

As a recent college graduate, with both software technology and science education in my pocket, I delved into the world of data and design, which inevitably also led to my scientific job opportunities. As a Systems Administrator, I was responsible for maintaining the database for user profiles and permissions. I was responsible for  the transfer of data from a SQL database to an Oracle database. With technology being in every aspect of work and life, I found myself taking on many roles, including database design, creation, and management; web design and management, and office administration tasks.

My capabilities with technology were also beneficial in the science field. I designed and developed a Geographical Information System (GIS) program for a federally mandated avian population survey that ran 10 years. This software is useful in nearly any industry. Furthermore, my technology experience was also utilized in an environmental geology engineering firm to track and manage plume delineation of contaminated sites. Analyzing data and writing technical reports, which requires significant research, is arduous but satisfying when accomplished.

Though I’ve taken time off from any traditional work environment to raise my family, I have maintained my skillsets, and look forward to the day I am able to offer them to a deserving organization.

WHAT I'VE DONE

Currently, I am at home raising my kids, helping with homework, and enjoying my time with them.

I love my time with my family, but I am ready to venture back out into the workforce.

You've reviewed a little bit about who I am, and what I've done in the past, so What I Can Do, is bring all those assets to the table, collectively, with creativity, innovative thinking, and a  fun and engaging personality, to become a valued asset within your organization. It is my expressed opinion, that if you don't enjoy your job, you won't be successful at your job.

I look forward to an opportunity to work with anyone or any organization that shares and embodies my perspectives on a healthy work-life balance, and ambition to succeed in all things possible.
